At Compass Rose and Maydan, we have a passion for seeking out wine producers from lesser-known regions and sharing their stories. For us, the Republic of Georgia is the inspiration for this passion, and with an 8000-year-old wine-making history it’s easy to understand why.

With Autumn around the corner, we want to take a moment to celebrate Amber wine, one of Georgia’s most iconic wine styles. Join us as we explore the many styles of Georgian Amber wines and celebrate the efforts of those winemakers who work tirelessly to continue their legacy.

Amber Wine Marketplace

Join us first at Maydan for a tasting of the most delicious and unique Georgian Amber wines at our wine marketplace. You’ll have the opportunity to interact with our partners (listed below), try new wines, and learn about their efforts in taking consumers away from what they know about wine.  Small bites will be offered.

Featured wines include: Orgo, Shalauri Cellars, Dato’s Wine, Chona’s Marani, Our Wine, Naotari, Kereselidze Wine Cellar, Vinoterra, Dakishvili Family Selections

Georgian Supra

Later at Compass Rose, we’ll celebrate in true Georgian fashion enjoying a supra that highlights the versatility of Amber wines. For those that do not know, a Supra is a traditional Georgian feast that weaves together a series of intricate and fabulous toasts with a shared table of food that seems to never end. Of course there can be not toasts without wine, and wine director, Maria Bastasch has a special list prepared with a menu from our chefs Gerald Addison and Chris Morgan.
